Brief history of integrations between PMS and Channel Manager

Integrations between PMS and Channel Manager are becoming more and more common and necessary for today's hotel management.

And why is that? For the simple reason that it allows us to automate the work of updating the PMS and the Channel Manager, instead of doing it manually.

The integration capability has evolved over time to what is known today as "2 way" integrations. With this type of integration, the PMS receives bookings from the Channel Manager (1 way) and sends availability and pricing information (2 way).

Problems with the 2 way integration arise when the price management tools in the PMS are too basic or unusable for the Revenue Manager. In other words, many Revenue Managers prefer to use the tools of the Channel Manager for rate management. However, in doing so, the price synchronisation with the PMS is lost.

Given that Channel Managers are constantly evolving in the tools they offer for rate management, wouldn't it be very convenient, from the Revenue Manager's point of view, to be able to update the PMS with the Channel Manager's rates, and not the other way around?
