Chronicle of the HotelTech Summit Barcelona

HotelTech Summit

We land in Barcelona to talk about hotel management and operations, revenue management and direct sales.

For the first time we held the HotelTech Summit event in Barcelona to bring our technology and that of our partners to urban hotels.

We were especially looking forward to organising an event in Barcelona. We have good clients, great partners and many friends there. For this reason, we chose spring to hold the first HotelTech Summit Barcelona and to take another step forward in our relationship with this top tourist destination.

GuestPro, HotelsDot, Revo Systems and, for the first time, Chartok were the companies that participated in the event. The fantastic Yurbban Trafalgar was the hotel chosen for the occasion, a modern and welcoming space with a staff of 10 and a rooftop with one of the best views of the city. Sea, mountains and the most emblematic buildings of Barcelona while you enjoy a glass of cava, what more could you ask for?

A success story

HotelTech Summit is the event organised by GuestPro since 2019 with the aim of weaving a network of trust between nationally consolidated technology companies and the hotel sector. After visiting the three Balearic Islands on several occasions, Levante (Valencia and Benidorm) and Bilbao; this year we wanted to visit Barcelona to take the pulse of a benchmark city in the hotel sector.

Innovation and technological solutions to improve the sales and operations of your hotel

This was the name under which the event's presentations were announced, precisely to focus on how technology improves a hotel business and facilitates its daily management and operations.

Sonia Molina

Sònia Molina, CEO of HotelsDot, was in charge of breaking the ice and she did so to talk about revenue management, a fundamental aspect in the sales strategy of the urban hotel. Sònia shed light on this subject by giving an in-depth review of this technique, the aim of which is something as simple as "optimising revenue in the most profitable way possible". Molina highlighted the variables to be taken into account in any good revenue management strategy: capacity, client, anticipation, booking conditions and price. According to his experience, a revenue manager should value "the ability to anticipate proactively and not change his or her mind".

Ignasi Olive

Next, Ignasi Olivé, CEO & Founder of REVO Systems, continued with the presentations to talk about his technological solution that "integrates with everything that is left", a perfect POS for the management of points of sale within a hotel. REVO 's philosophy is based on simplicity, "if it's too complicated, we don't do it; we can't complicate a process just for the sake of making it digital". Olivé took advantage of the event to present in detail his collaboration with Meliá Hotels.

Xavier Pallicer

After a short coffee break, Xavier Pallicer, CEO & Founder of GuestPro and organiser of the meeting, presented to the attendees his all-in-one PMS that is revolutionising the way his clients work. He took advantage of his talk to talk about GuestPro's new Webdesk, a guest interaction platform designed to improve the user experience by 100%. Check-in and Check-out, booking modifications, upselling, collections, invoicing, marketing tools... To end his talk, he focused on the company's philosophy and how direct collaboration with hotels helps to improve our platform by adding the functionalities demanded by the client.

Joan Sanz

Joan Sanz, CEO & Founder of Chartok, participated for the first time in one of our meetings and his talk aroused great interest among the attendees. Joan told us how his task management software helps hoteliers to automate and optimise operations in a matter of minutes. Simple, easy and fast. A tool that revolutionises the internal management of a hotel, saves time, avoids confusion, improves internal communication, adapts to each hotel. Automation also in internal management, it saves time for the hotel staff, time that can be dedicated to improving the service and excellence of the accommodation.

At the end of the talks, the speakers spent a few minutes discussing the relationship between the hotel and its technological partner. For example, Eva Llopis from Gat Rooms commented on the good communication with GuestPro, their current PMS, and how mutual collaboration can be beneficial for both parties.

Networking

The good atmosphere and complicity among the attendees moved to the spectacular rooftop of the Yurbban Trafalgar in a lively networking session. Over a glass of cava, enjoying the spring sunshine and some of the best views of the city, there was time to relax and have a lively chat.
