What can Airbnb do for my hotel?

We recently explained the reasons why a professional accommodation should be on Airbnb. Now we take a closer look at this topic, talking in a webinar with two of the platform's managers in Spain, who tell us how to be there and get the maximum benefit for our business.

Visibility

With 90% organic traffic, Airbnb is undoubtedly a growing search engine for accommodation. The figures indicate this; it provides customers, increases incremental demand and therefore increases occupancy. Pablo Campoy, partnerships, strategy and operations at Airbnb, commented, for example, that it takes an average of 3 days for a new listing to receive its first booking.

Security

Campoy also emphasised security, "protecting the host is very important for Airbnb, we are committed to the security of our hosts with a specific programme with coverage of up to 3 million dollars". The bilateral evaluation is also a "control" for the traveller: "at Airbnb the traveller knows that they will be evaluated and both parties do their best to have a good stay and good comments". Finally, he assured that travellers do not usually cancel bookings and, for example, in 2022 cancellations did not reach 15%.

Charging system

Toni Alomar, Airbnb account manager, was in charge of explaining how the platform works and the advantages it has for professional accommodations. Regarding payments, he pointed out that Airbnb only charges a 15% commission to the accommodations and that Airbnb manages all the payments and assumes the commissions of the credit cards and the incidents.

The importance of being a Superhost

One of the issues he highlighted is the importance of being a Superhost on Airbnb. It has been proven that it increases bookings and that guests take it into account in their searches, it has a filter that is widely used and, said Alomar, it increases the conversion of accommodation with this badge. To position an ad and get this extra visibility, Alomar explained that it is essential to have a good price, offer good availability and take care of the quality of the offer. " If you are a Superhost, things will go very well for you," he said.
